Colour on the way Home

Before we left Kal we visited the Oasis in the Desert cache. So glad we did it was in a lovely spot called Hammond Park with lots of Kangaroos, Emus, and a large variety of Galah's and Cockatiels.
This peacock put on a show for my camera...he was beautiful!
This poor old guy wasn't in as good shape, he looked like he'd been attacked by the other birds. He just wanted a scratch!
Now for lots of the photos of wildflowers we shot on the way home.

I was very happy when I saw all these flowers!!

Sometimes we forget just how beautiful the Australian bush can be!

 A carpet of yellow!

Have this one as my desk top pic...very summery I thought!

This is one of my favourites

And now for some caching stops.
Kokerbin Rock is south of Kellerberrin and is the 3rd largest monolith in Australia. Stephen climbed up, I started but it got really steep and I didn't want to roll down the hill. We found out later that we were climbing it from the wrong place and should have found some arrows to follow. Oh well I doubt we will be going back, but you never know! Unfortunately we didn't get a photo from the bottom..so if you want to see it from that angle, have a look here.

This is the Pink Lake, Quairading. A cache nearby, we had to stop. But we weren't here for long because something in this lake makes for giant mosquitos. They were HUGE!! There should be a sign like this...
Another cache and more of the rabbit proof fence, this part looked to be in it's original condition. It shows where the rabbits run along the fence and then into a wire tube and become entrapped in a cage.
The photo below is of the smallest bank in Australia which is in Shackleton. It only measures 4 metres by 3 metres. It closed for the last time in 1997 as a Bankwest branch but over the years it has been used as a aircraft observation post during the world war II and a child care centre (maybe there were only 2 children??)
