Ray and Ailsa's New Bathroom

A few years ago Ray and Ailsa's house had a major renovation where they moved the kitchen and opened up the living area. It made a huge difference. More room and lots of light. But that was in the front of the house, the back had been left in the 70's and really needed an update.

So since Stephen is getting really good at this bathroom reno stuff, they asked if he would like to do it. Of course he said YES! This is the third one he's done in a year. And it had to be one of the hottest weeks this year to start...but off to work he went!

He had a couple of helpers so started ripping out all the old stuff. Harley and Ray carry out the vanity.

The bath was extremely heavy, made from cast iron, luckily Harley was there to give a hand to lift it out.

Next, time to chip all the tiles off the wall and floor. Stephen's special tool has really come in handy.

Cement mixing and now to try and get everything level.
Next was to get the new vanity in.
Stephen still happy even though it's 39 degrees and he's sweating like a pig!
Next put that horrible smelly orange stuff on the shower to seal the walls...
...and onto the tiling.
Ray and Ailsa chose these nice glass mosaic tiles for a feature.

Walls done...now onto the floor.

 Seen this floor trap before...
Some new taps..still a bit dusty in this photo.
 A splash of paint...
...and wait for the electrician to move and install a new light.
New mirror and light
Now to install the new shower screen.....
 This went together really easily.

A new glass shelf in the corner of the shower, new towel rails and rings.
A final inspection by the bosses...they look pretty happy!!
Just the door and trim to be painted and it will be finished.
