Esperance Escapade

We have been waiting for a few months to get the time to travel down to Esperance from Perth and after completing one more small reno at home (a new toilet for guests) and a quick trip to Cervantes we are finally here. We took a few days to get here as we of course had to stop and do as many caches as possible. We visited some beautiful places on the way and some not so beautiful.

Our first stop was Beverley. There is a very small cache on this plane which is called a Vampire. My father was born in Beverley over 80 years ago and I have only been here a couple of times in my life. It is a very small place and not much to see but would really like to find out where he lived. My sister has found the street but not the house number...i'm sure she's still working on that!

Next we set out for Corrigin and found a few more caches on the way. One of the more interesting ones around Corrigin was called 'Sick Puppy'. It was at a small grave yard for dogs.

We felt a bit bad for our poor animals in unmarked graves in our garden (there's quite a few of them)....but at least they are still close to us.

And then on to Kulin for the night. I thought I had booked a room fully self contained, meaning I could cook but it ended up being a motel room with just a kettle and toaster. So, luckily for me, we had to go to the pub for dinner. We had an excellent meal at the Kulin Hotel and at a reasonable price. The rooms are a bit dated, but that's what you get when you're in the outback!

One of the caches is on a highway that the locals call Tin Horse Highway and this is why....

Kulin is famous for their race days

This seahorse is made from old points off a combine or something similar

This is made from parts of a horses skeleton
Some people have great imaginations.
This is just a few, there were heaps more!!

Next stop Wave Rock
 Beautiful against the blue sky

Thought this little guy was going to run up my leg.
We took a walk around to this rock called the Hippo's Yawn
The third cache for this area was at Mulka's Cave where we read about the legend of Mulka.
 Aboriginal paintings

We had to bend down to get inside...yes even me!!

We stayed last night in Hopetoun. A very pretty spot.
We got up close to a wind turbine...both of us always wondered what it would be like to stand under one of these. It was actually noisier the further you moved away.
Stopped at the Oldfield River for lunch. No one around it was so peaceful!
