Family and The Wandoo Series

A couple of weeks ago when we were still in Calingiri seeding, we took a Sunday off and went to my sister Donna's place in Chidlow. We had a bit of a family get together with almost all our children's cousins with the exception of my daughter, Bianca.

Donna arranged the day so we could catch up with Ross, Olga and little Henry,  the newest member of the family. They are in Perth for a few weeks visiting from Iceland.
The little man we were all hanging out to meet. Henry Thor, Vicki's first grandchild and Donna and my great nephew
Having all the kids spread across Australia and the world it was lovely to catch up on all the news and finding out what they are all up to.
 Bella is studying for exams
Donna's working hard as usual
Olga and Henry holidaying
Unfortunately Henry wasn't feeling the best on the day. Poor little man was in quite a bit of pain.
Ross is holidaying and when he's not he works at the fish factory in Saudarkrokur.(We will have to visit the factory when we are there this year) John is working hard and Eva is very busy with two of her short films in the the inaugural YouTube film festival: Your Film Festival. You can vote for BAT EYES  here and BOOT here.
 Eva and Ross
My gorgeous Georgia who loves her new job working with a photography firm. I must say I haven't seen her this happy for a while.  Elliot in the background and is working on a pilot boat out of Dampier and loving it! He and Janelle are saving furiously to build a new home.
Elliot's lovely fiancee Janelle
Jesse, the only one of Vicki's children still in Perth and loving his job as a mechanic.
Playing music is Dom's life and he plays in Melbourne a various hotels and bars and had a couple of gigs while in Perth.
....and Steve, well you all know what we do!!

A big THANK YOU to Donna for the yummy lunch of soups and breads and organising everything. XX

Then we went back to work!!

After being away for a while we haven't had time for geocaching and I think we were starting to have withdrawals. We had been looking at this series for a while and today was the day to make a start on it.

Our first stop was to try and get a First To Find (which wasn't in the series) on Brookton Highway not far from where my sister Vicki used to live. Driving up that way bought back good memories of visits to her house and of when we lived in Armadale. It's a beautiful area!

After quite a long search we had to settle for a DNF (did not find).

This tree is huge! A kid would love to climb it!

Then off we went and after a short drive up the road we started the series. The caches are only around  a kilometre apart so there is a lot of stopping and starting.
Along the Brookton Highway every now and then we found these chairs. Don't know what the significance is....
...but there were quite a few of them. As you can see the first photo says 'Dick' the next one says 'Harry'. So I was keeping an eye out for 'Tom' but only found 'Joy'.
Now, these sorts of things don't worry us, makes a drive a little more interesting but as you can see in the photo below, some people will dump their rubbish anywhere. Why would anybody want to spoil our beautiful bushland with this???

A couple of old marker trees. Painted many many years ago and now almost grown over.

Once we were off the main highway it became very peaceful, not a car in sight, only the sound of the birds.
We walked through some beautiful bush and found lots and lots of caches.
And you never know what you might find while walking through the bush. This tow rope was way to good to just leave. It was obvious it had been there for a long time...so we don't think anyone was coming back for it. Bonus!!
By the time it was dark and COLD we had nearly finished one section of the Wandoo Series. We managed to do 62 caches in one day. A record for us!
