This is the pile of rubbish at our front door...hoping it goes to the tip on Tuesday!
The next step was to waterproof the shower recess. Boy-o-boy does that stuff stink!! I couldn't even stay in the room while Stephen put it on and it had to have two coats.
While that was drying Stephen started tiling over the vanity. After the larger tiles were on we tried to place the mosaics but had a few problems. We didn't know how to keep them from falling onto each other as they were quite heavy. We ended up putting wedges in between every tile to keep them apart and that worked quite well.
Once the yellow smelly stuff was dry (a couple of days later) the tiling could be started in the recess. I thought they should go to the ceiling in this area...took a bit of convincing but Stephen finally agreed.
I found something out about my Stephen while this job has been going on...he's a perfectionist!
Everything has to be spot on! Not that I'm complaining...I think it's wonderful!
After a bit of googling we found out the best way to put the glass tiles on is to glue them onto a board (hardyflex) first so they were laying flat while drying and then glue them to the wall.
We chose these nice square floor traps. A piece of tile is cut and placed in the square.
Once the grout is in...this brown one was very messy
....then it's just a wash down
Beautiful!! (Will need a few more washes before it's actually finished)
The photo below is just to show that I have actually done SOMETHING! Mind you I haven't done anywhere near as much as Stephen. My jobs have mainly consisted of cleaning all the bits and pieces that are going back into the bathroom, making sure Stephen has a good lunch and dinner to keep him going, picking up broken bits of tiles, trying to keep the house cleanish but that's almost impossible with all the dust. And of course dishing out lots of praise!
More later.....
