A Little Bit of Gardening

The other day I opened the bedroom curtains and I could see right across the street. This was unusual because there should have been a huge Grass Tree (Blackboy) in the way.
It had died a few months ago and we were gradually picking up the leaves and putting them in the bin, but it had snapped and fallen in the garden. We think now the reason it died was because it was probably hundreds of years old.
We piled it all into the trailer and took it to the tip. Very sad to see it go as we loved it and it has left a huge hole in the garden. We still have one Grass Tree on the other side of the path and it should be here for as long as we are because it is quite young, unlike us...haha!
Since we were going to the tip we decided to get a trailer load of mulch. We are entitled to one free load a year. So of course that meant we had to spread it around the garden when we got home.
You can see the other Grass Tree in this photo.
The Agapanthus are looking particularly good this year, probably because it hasn't been very hot and we've had lots of rain.

They'll enjoy the mulch too.
We still have half a trailer of mulch to go on the rest of the garden but that will have to wait until tomorrow.

We are thinking maybe a Frangipani to fill the space the Grass Tree left, but I want to try and get a mature plant.

Shame about the Grass Tree...didn't you give away a mature Frangipani not that long ago...your timing is a bit out. Garden is looking lovely!
