Today We Touched the Tasman Sea....

Day 4
A stitched together panorama shot of the South West Coast

I’m typing this in Microsoft Word as we don’t have any internet tonight…arrrhhh!! How are we suppose to log all the caches we did today? Oh well!

Last night Stephen went to bed feeling pretty sick and got up this morning feeling worse. He’s got a cold. There were a few people coughing around us on both flights so we’re thinking that’s where he’s picked it up. Anyway, today he’s been struggling a bit. We stopped and got some cold and flu tabs from the chemist but he was still sniffling all day and is now in bed at 7:30pm snoring his head off. Love those night tabs!

We travelled from Hobart to Southport and we are staying at a caravan park but we have a motel room.  Not all that impressed with the accommodation but it will do for one night. The room is clean but it’s very cold and smells damp. Maybe we would have been better off getting a cabin instead of a motel room??

We’re really loving Tassie. Some of little places we went through today were very ‘quaint’. One called Cygnet has a traditional bakery, The YoYo Bakery where they make everything on the premises. We bought our lunch and went and sat in a park close to our next cache. It was delicious... lunch not the cache!

We only stopped at one Antique shop, coz we only past one!! Can you believe it? There must be a whole lot more, further north. We didn’t buy anything.
THE antique shop - nice building!

We still  managed to fit in 14 caches with one pretty sick geoman, so our tally is getting up there!!

There seems to be a lot of yachts in Tassie

I will try and write more tomorrow, but I don’t think I’m going to be able to keep this everyday thing for the whole trip. We will see!

Day 5

It was raining but I touched it!
Another yacht

We left Southport this morning after a pretty horrible night. Firstly no internet, ok I can live with that! Then the telly went off at 8pm, think something tripped it out coz none of the power points worked in the lounge area. I thought, oh well, I'll just get an early night...not to be. Where the units were built was kinda under the back of the owners house so every time someone went to the toilet, I could hear it flush and then the pump would go on to fill it again. Not to bad coz they didn't use it that much. But they had a couple of children who were running up and down the stairs, it sounded like they were stamping their feet on every step and they kept pushing chairs around on the balcony. This seemed to go on for hours...I didn't get much sleep!!

Anyway, when we left it was raining. When we arrived back in Hobart it was raining. When we arrived in Maydena it was still raining!! Not that this is bothering us much, we're still doing what we want to do.

On our way, we past through the Southern Forest and went and had a look in Hastings Cave. There are hot springs there too at a nice 28C but we didn't try them.

 Very pretty inside!

This is the car we hired - it is very comfortable and has plenty of room
